In 1993 Cara finished her degree in Fine Arts majoring in Drawing
at Ballarat University. On graduation Cara received the National
Gallery of Victoria Award for her final year collection of works
on paper and canvas.
Since noving to Port Douglas in 1994 Cara has developed a passion for texture and colour in conjunction
with the landscape. She likes to recreate an abstract aerial
view of the land, using rich colours and multiple layering of
mediums. Cara also works with photography & natural elements
such as stones, shells, leaves and sticks. She collages these
together to make works that introduce us to the landscape in
a different way. Her work ranges in size from tiny intimate
pieces to large scale timber and canvas panels.
Cara met Josh Simons in 2000, and they have developed a great
working as well as personal relationship.
Josh handmakes all of Cara's frames from local timbers
gathered
from around the Port Douglas area. The natural timber frames are
an important part of the artwork, allowing each piece to have
it's own sense of depth and dimension. Download
